Just Need
My Besties

By Ruby Vanguard

You know the saying, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”? Well, I know.

Life has a way of pulling you away from the little things you never realized were helping hold you together. Then, when life starts kicking you around, you remember them—the friendships, the laughter, the good times, and the people who could make an ordinary day feel like something worth remembering.

I think about my friends from years ago. They lived just a few houses away from me, and every so often they’d pull up in this big, huge Cadillac and honk the horn. I’d look out the window, see them waiting, get dressed, and run out the door.

We’d go cruising in the next town with no grand plan. We talked, laughed, acted silly, and enjoyed being together. Back then, it was just what we did. I don’t think any of us stopped to consider how special those moments were.

As life moves on, people move, responsibilities pile up, and everyone gets pulled in different directions. But there are times when you realize how much it would mean to have that kind of friendship nearby again—the kind where someone can show up, get you out of the house, make you laugh until your stomach hurts, and remind you that life is more than whatever is weighing you down.

That feeling is where Just Need My Besties came from.

The album isn’t about one specific friendship or one particular moment. It’s about the people who make life lighter. The ones you can laugh with, cry with, vent to, celebrate with, sit around a kitchen table with, or ride around with while talking about absolutely everything and nothing.

Sometimes life gets heavy.

Sometimes you just need your besties.
